Welcome to Sailability Wellington where taking to the water to sail is no barrier to people with disabilities! Sailability Wellington Trust (Inc) is a charitable trust that provides sailing opportunities for people with any form of disability.

Our sailing programmes are run for people with a wide range of disabilities from our three Sailing Hubs – Evan’s Bay Yacht & Motor Boat Club, Seaview Marina adjacent to Lowry Bay Yacht Club and by the jetty, adjacent to Porirua Rowing Club and opposite Onepoto Park, Porirua Harbour.

We provide the opportunity for people to sail every week of the year (weather permitting).  We also have a race squad who compete nationally and internationally and we hope, one day to represent New Zealand at the Paralympics.

Our programme can cater for all levels of disability and our volunteers undergo stringent training to ensure high safety standards are adhered to.

We have over 50 volunteers who devote more than 300 hours to Sailability each week. They are trained in all aspects of sailing, yacht handling, safety and disability through a rigorous training programme. There are some volunteer positions which do not require time on the dock but are essential to providing our life-changing programme. Click here for further information on volunteering for Sailability Wellington. We need your help.

Sailability is a ‘not for profit’ organisation, that through the activity of sailing, enriches the lives of people with any type of disability.

We are an incorporated and registered charitable trust that was established in 2002 and we never thought it would expand to 130 sailors, 49 volunteers and a waiting list of over 50 from all around the Wellington region. Click here for further information on supporting Sailability Wellington. On the Support page you will find the Donation form.

Thanks to our Donors

Sailability can only run with the generosity and support of our funding organisations and trusts, along with our many volunteers and supporters.

We would like to acknowledge the support of the following trusts who have kindly given us donations recently.

  • Infinity Trust
  • Hutt Mana Energy Trust
  • Pelorus Trust

Calling all businesses?

We need your corporate support to help Sailability run.  We need new boats that can have your business name on them.  This is effective business advertising.
